This weekend marked the season opener for ducks in the south central zone in Illinois. It was a long weekend for me as I hunted early Saturday morning, then jumped into my cousin’s truck later that afternoon to sit in a boat blind overnight.
On Sunday we wiped the sleep from our eyes and after the second part of our hunting party arrived we were ready to go before sun up. There was plenty of birds flying into the hole and many more that we had been able to call in. We stayed out until the end of hunting hours and it turned out to be a great hunt with a good group of guys that really enjoy the hunting but also the friendship.
